We are excited to announce the details of the 2017 Buddy Walk:
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to bring together a wide range of concerned individuals to reach out to friends, family and co-workers to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for local services and national education, research and advocacy programs. This is the 17th annual walk for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada.

Saturday – May 6, 2017
8:00 am – 10:00 am: Buddy Walk Registration, Food, Fun, Games and ongoing Entertainment
10:00 am – 10:30 am: Welcome, Announcements, Proclamations & Warm-Up
10:30 am – 11:00 am: Let the Walk Begin!
11:00 am – 12 Noon: Entertainment, Raffles, Prizes and Awards
Children, young adults and adults with Down syndrome, family members, friends, healthcare professionals, corporate teams and members of the community – bring wagons, pop-up tents, blankets, wheelchairs, pets and strollers. Everyone is welcome!
The 17th Annual Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. Before and after the walk, you and your family will enjoy entertainment for everyone, including clowns, face painting, balloon animals, carnival games, music, dancing and more!

There are several ways to register for the Buddy Walk as a Team Captain, a member of a team or as an individual walker or family.
You can also register through Firstgiving, pay your register fee, select t-shirt sizes and begin fundraising by creating you very own FREE fundraising Page.
What does it cost to participate in the Buddy Walk and what does it include?
Although we hope everyone participates as a fundraiser for the Buddy Walk, the minimum cost to participate are as follows:
Individual Walker Registration Fee: $20 up until April 28th and $25 the Day-of
Family Registration (up to 4): $40 by April 28th and $50 the Day-of
The Buddy Walk registration includes your t-shirt(s), food, fun, games and entertainment. (Raffle Tickets are extra)
Buddy Walk Team Captain Details:
One of the “fun” ways to participate in the Buddy Walk is to be a Team Captain and form your own Buddy Walk Team. This is also a great way to “fundraise” and have your team get credit for all the efforts of you and your team mates. Sign-up today to be a Buddy Walk Team Captain.

2017 Buddy Walk Incentives:
NDSS has not yet announced their 2017 Buddy Walk Incentives. They will be similar to previous years. Incentives are a great way to motivate your friends, family and team members to raise funds and be able to select great prizes based on your fundraising levels. Have “fun” “fundraising” and earn those prizes!

There will be two raffles taking place at the Buddy Walk. One is for great prizes and the other is a 50-50 Cash Raffle.
Buddy Walk Prize Ticket Prices are: 1 for $1; 6 for $5; 13 for $10 and 30 for $20
Buddy Walk 50-50 Cash Ticket Prices are: 1 for $5; 5 for $20 and 30 for $100

Other ways to fundraise for the Buddy Walk:
Do you know of a business who will help us promote and raise funds for the Buddy Walk? Business can place Coin Collection Canisters in their establishment or offer Buddy Walk Danglers for a donation. Below are samples of each. Coin Collection Canisters and Danglers are available at DSOSN. All these means of additional fundraising will be credited to your total funds raised.
We thank everyone for participating in the Buddy Walk and we want you to fun doing so. And although we hope everyone participates in the fundraising portion of the Buddy Walk, know that the most important aspect and goal of the Buddy Walk is to bring awareness to the community about Down syndrome and to promote acceptance and inclusion of persons who have Down syndrome.
Funds raised at the Buddy Walk will go towards DSOSN operations in support of the following local programs and services offered to individuals and their families affected by Down syndrome. Also a small portion of net proceeds are sent to the National Down Syndrome Society to support their National Policy Center of advocacy and research.
