DSOSN Health & Wellness Garden Ready for DSOSN Child/Adult Member Participation
As everyone probably knows the Health & Wellness Garden, funded through grants from Junior League Las Vegas and Cox Communications, was built on April 22nd in conjunction with the Playground Build Day.
After that seeds were planted of various fruits and vegetables – tomatoes, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe., peppers, etc.
Then a watering system was generously donated and installed by Joey Calarco, owner of Pride Pools, and his staff.
As a result, the garden is coming along beautifully and now we need DSOSN children and adults of all ages to help us in maintaining the garden, harvesting the fruits of our labor and prepare these delicious food items for consumption. This will be an ongoing project of planting and harvesting.
DSOSN is also recruiting for a Garden Coordinator/Supervisor to oversee all the activities the DSOSN members will be involved in. If you are interested, please contact Deann at the office.
In the meantime, we are asking an Music group, Dance group (of all ages) and the Cool 21′s who would like to, to please stay an extra 15 minutes or so after your meetings or sessions to give the garden so maintenance time.
This garden is a great opportunity for our members to experience planting and growing of food and learning the nutritional value these food items provide as well as enstill a sense of pride and accomplishment for being a part of this great project.
